About The Founder

Ty Johnson is an entrepreneur, visionary, and mentor whose powerful redemption story lies at the heart of The Hustle Up Show. Determined to change his path, he turned to legitimate business and built Fathead Apparel, a streetwear brand that became a national success.

  • Built Fathead Apparel with distribution in several states and an exclusive Melrose Blvd store.
  • Created iconic designs, including the $250 “Ben Hustlin” shirt, worn by celebrities and cultural icons.
  • Celebrity support included Snoop Dogg, Floyd Mayweather Jr., Ice Cube, Nas, Ludacris while with President Barack Obama, Rosario Dawson, Lil Wayne, and Kevin Hart.

Ty developed a loyal following among entertainers and athletes, producing $1,500 jeans and $5,000 hoodies for

A-list clientele.

Executive-produced the award-winning film Bluehill Avenue, winner at the Acapulco Film Festival.

Overcame incarceration after carrying a street mentality into the business world, using the experience to fuel his mission of mentorship and second chances.

Today, Ty Johnson has built a state-of-the-art production and mentorship hub in Inglewood, CA, featuring an LED wall and stage, barbershop, kitchen, recording and animation studios, a symbolic jail cell, and a gym for mental health and self-care.

This studio is the home of The Hustle Up Show and the annual Hustle Up Awards. Ty’s mission is simple: to inspire at-risk youth and adults to put down the guns and pick up a hustle.

His lived experience, cultural credibility, and business success make him the authentic voice to lead this movement and turn The Hustle Up Show into a global brand.
